An update on my VK White Knight Charger – re engine cutting out/total power loss while driving but then restarts again.
So last weekend i changed alternators, took dash out to check wires behind amps gauge and starter motor wires. Red wire on amps gauge was firm ‘ish’ but the nut tightened up almost one turn. Wires on starter motor were all ok. Spare alternator that i fitted is charging and seems to be working as it should.
It wasn’t until yesterday that i was able to take it for a drive as i hadn’t paid the rego yet. So after the rego was sorted me n Red dog went on a 120 klm drive and it didn’t cut out at all. Without getting too excited i was quietly confident the problem was fixed as on previous drives in the last 12 months it certainly would have cut out well before 120 klm’s.
Red dog wasn’t so sure so today he made me take it for another drive to see what happens. We went up to Dungog for a coffee, over the mountain to Stroud and back down the highway towards Newcastle and did a total of 154 klm’s by the time we got home and…it didn’t cut out or lose power at all!????????
Looks like after 12 months of frustration and not even wanting to drive it the problem may be fixed, i love driving this car it drives so well apart from that problem! Over the last 12 months i changed dizzy, coil, ballast resistor, electronic ignition box, fusible link, re55 reg. etc.
Thanks to all those that gave their advice i really appreciate it.
It certainly got me motivated again in to trying to diagnose the problem.
Oh, and yes obviously Red dog IS allowed in the White Knight now with a huge car cover sprawled over the seat and carpet. I couldn’t stand the filthy look he gave me whenever i drove off from the house without him????????????✌️
WKS: Thanks for the update Andrew
