An update on my VK White Knight Charger – re engine cutting out/total power loss while driving but then restarts again.
So last weekend i changed alternators, took dash out to check wires behind amps gauge and starter motor wires. Red wire on amps gauge was firm ‘ish’ but the nut tightened up almost one turn. Wires on starter motor were all ok. Spare alternator that i fitted is charging and seems to be working as it should. It wasn’t until yesterday that i was able to take it for a drive as i hadn’t paid the rego yet. So after the rego was sorted me n Red dog went on a 120 klm drive and it didn’t cut out at all. Without getting too excited i was quietly confident the problem was fixed as on previous drives in the last 12 months it certainly would have cut out well before 120 klm’s.
Red dog wasn’t so sure so today he made me take it for another drive to see what happens. We went up to Dungog for a coffee, over the mountain to Stroud and back down the highway towards Newcastle and did a total of 154 klm’s by the time we got home and…it didn’t cut out or lose power at all!???????? Looks like after 12 months of frustration and not even wanting to drive it the problem may be fixed, i love driving this car it drives so well apart from that problem! Over the last 12 months i changed dizzy, coil, ballast resistor, electronic ignition box, fusible link, re55 reg. etc. Thanks to all those that gave their advice i really appreciate it.
It certainly got me motivated again in to trying to diagnose the problem. Oh, and yes obviously Red dog IS allowed in the White Knight now with a huge car cover sprawled over the seat and carpet. I couldn’t stand the filthy look he gave me whenever i drove off from the house without him????????????✌️
A White Knight Charger, White 4 speed VIN is VK7-M-29/GG22-00464

I have a new photo of mine here, my WKS has been on display at the Motor Museum of W.A. at Whiteman Park for the last three months.
The museum curator had seen it at one of our club shows and asked if I would put it on display there to highlight this model and it has been well received apparently.
Seems I took Red dog out this morning (and every other day!), he let me take this out for a drive this arvo (he knows he’s not allowed in this one). First time out since January 26. I forgot how much i love driving this car!

Here is BULLETIN NO.93 that was distributed to dealers announcing the decision to release the limited edition “White Knight” Special Charger
BULLETIN NO. 93.
5th July, 1976
“WHITE KNIGHT” CHARGER SPECIAL
It has been decided to introduce anew and exciting limited edition Charger Marketing Special. This special will be known as the “White Knight” and will be identifiable by the sales option code of A50.
The public announcement has been planned for mid August. The actual package will be based off the Medium Line XL Charger with the following specifications and variations applied to create this new package.
EXTERIOR
There will be a choice of two exterior paint colours -Arctic White or Amarante Red.
A new and very individual exterior striping effect has been designed and incorporates the “Charger” name in separate block letters located between the wheel arches.
The front grille (except for the mesh which will remain grey), the front turn bezels, and the front and rear bumper bars are to be painted to body colour, with a special non-reflective matt finish applied to the bumper bars. To further identify this vehicle, a front air dam will be fitted. This also will be painted body colour, thus integrating the whole frontal appearance.
The black belt vinyl treatment and the sports fuel filter cap from the 770 Charger will also be fitted to these vehicles.
INTERIOR
The white seats have a red centre stripe feature line with red piping being used on the periphery of the seats. White vinyl will also be used on the headlining, sunvisors and rear shelf, whilst the door trims and floor carpets will be red.
MECHANICAL
The following options will become standard on the “White Knight” specials :
W36 – 6.00″ styled road wheels
T14 – 186 SR BSW radial tyres
D20 – 4 speed manual floor transmissions
E33 4.3 litre engine.
The only additional optional equipment available with the “white Knight” will be the C16 automatic floor console transmission which can be ordered in place of the 020 transmission if desired.
There will only be • limited number of these units produced, hence it will be in your own interest to make early enquiries and have one of these units on your showroom floor for the announcement date.
After the release at least one WKS spent the first 6 months of her life running around to dealerships showing everyone what a WKS was. Here it is, lovingly restored by Glenn Elms.
